On November 7, the anniversary of Fr. Andrew Greeley’s tragic accident, his sister Mary Jule Durkin, and family wish to express their profound gratitude to all who have kept him in their prayers. On his behalf, we ask for your continued prayers for him and for all victims of traumatic brain injury and their families. We express our thanks to the skilled medical personnel, caregivers, and rehabilitation therapists who have cared for and encouraged him during this difficult time. We will continue to work so that, in spite of his injury, he can enjoy a quality of life in keeping with his imagination, intelligence, and service to his Church and community. Through the years, we have observed first hand his deep commitment to his friends, academic colleagues, readers, fellow priests, and parishioners. We know that Fr. Greeley blesses you for your concern.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackHello, My name is Marina and I am Brazilian. I live in Curitiba, Parana, Brazil. I just read the book: The Priestly Sins, and could not help but comment on this brilliant work. First need to apologize for grammatical errors, as they already do a few years do not write English. As a practicing Catholic I must say that practicing even more will come. I have 21 years and have always been educated in a Catholic, I feel special for being one of the few people who believe in God and trying to stick it up in this world so brutal. I would just like to thank Father Andrew for giving me this wonderful experience and tell him that the lesson is being passed to many people, including priests and seminarians I know. Best wishes to Father Andrew and I hope the Holy Spirit will continue lighting the Father Andrew, and all human beings, that kindness, respect, religion is growing bigger and better.
Best Wishes for Father Andrew from all my hearth.
Thank´s
Marina
I just recently found out about your injury. I was checking out your Website after reading a Blackie Ryan novel. I’m glad to hear that you are recovering.
Dear Father Greeley, We just wanted to let you know our family is praying for you. We think so much of you. You have enriched our Catholic faith. I love your O’Malley clan and am waiting for the next book. Know you are in our prayers daily.

I am continuing to pray for Father. I am praying for a FULL recovery for him.
Now then, Andee, me lad, and shouldn’t you be up and around and tickling the consciences of us all … for sure.
Well, okay then, enjoy your rest, and may the wind be at your back, the rain fallgently on your fields, the road rise up to your footfalls, and our Ever Blessed Lord hold you by your Blessed Hands.
You are constantly in my thoughts and prayers my friend.
God Bless and Speed your healing.

You have been in my prayers since 2008 when I discovered that you had suffered an accident. I so miss reading your weekly articles – they truly brought Christ’s spirit into our world. If anyone reads between the lines in the Gospels, they will discover that Christ was totally involved with what was going on in His world – apathy was something he could not tolerate. Your words brought the real meaning of Christ’s message into the Catholic Church. I was born and raised a Catholic – left the Church – and only returned to the Church because of your writings and novels. Thank you for giving me back my Faith. I will continue to pray for a complete recovery.
Dear Father Greeley,
On Christmas Day I want to express my pride, admiration and gratitude for the many ways in which you have told the Good News. Yours is a beautiful example of a life dedicated to loving God. May Jesus and Mary embrace you in Their Love and grant you Peace.
You’re in my heart and prayers.
Dilia
Dear Father Greelely and Family
I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I have read your book “Home for Christmas”. I enjoyed it immensely as I knew I would. Your books always make me laugh and make me think. I am waiting with baited breath for the next one.
I hope this year brings a full recovery from your accident. I wish to meet you to drop off my new poetry in person. I visit the Chicago area often for my family still surrounds the city, living in both the Northern and Southern suburbs.
Have a happy, healthy and active new year

Fr. Greeley; Because of you I grew to love the Catholic Church and built a closer relationship to God. I’m sure I am not alone. For this alone may God choose to grant you continued healing. We know “she” is capable of all things good. kathie
I am just starting to read “JESUS (A Meditation on His Stories and His Relationships with Women)”. I hope and pray that Father Greeley will continue his recovery. I am getting so much out of this book already. And I have only just started reading it. Thank you, Father Greeley for your great and inspiring work.
We wait patiently and pray. Fr. Gerry Weber left us just before Christmas. The old gang is rapidly aging, not always fine wine. We need another dinner in Tucson.
